Aberdeen victorious in Granite City Challenge

The University of Aberdeen's student sports stars came out on top in the annual Granite City Challenge varsity event against city rivals Robert Gordon University.

Wins in events including curling, women’s netball, rugby, swimming, water polo, women’s volleyball, women’s hockey, rowing and golf helped TeamABDN to a 17-11 victory.

Aberdeen University Student Association (AUSA) Sports President, Marc McCorkell praised all teams involved.

“This was another fantastic win for Aberdeen to keep our winning streak going. It’s been an absolutely brilliant day, and there’s been a lot of love shown by the supporters for all the teams.

“We’re proud to host what is the country’s biggest varsity event, and thanks to RGU for making it such a competitive spectacle.”

In other sport, the University’s fencing team triumphed in their first British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) Premier North Playoff against 115-134 against Manchester.
