Aberdeen's hosts talk by The Precariat author

A leading researcher who is attracting much academic and media attention for his latest book about an emerging class of people who are living and working precariously is giving a talk at the University of Aberdeen this lunchtime.

Professor Guy Standing, Professor of Economic Security at the University of Bath and author of The Precariat: The New Dangerous Class is giving a seminar at 1pm in MT2 in the Meston Building.

Professor Standing is also Professor of Economics at the School of Oriental and African Studies at University of London and co-President of Basic Income Earth Network (BIEN).

Dr John Bone, Senior Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen’s Department of Sociology, has organised today’s talk.

He said: “Professor Standing is currently much in demand as a plenary speaker at major conferences, a well as numerous events organised by policymakers, so we are delighted to welcome him here at the University of Aberdeen.”
