Engineering student short-listed as finalist for top awards

Rory Macdonald, Level 5 MEng Chemical Engineering student, has been nominated as a finalist in The Science, Engineering & Technology Awards 2010.

Rory is one of three finalists for The AWE Award for Best Chemical Engineering Student based on the work he undertook for his Level 4 MEng Individual Project, "The effects of anolyte turbulence and mixing on microbial fuel cells", under the supervision of Dr Euan Bain.

If selected as the winner of the AWE Award for Best Chemical Engineering Student, Rory will be one of sixteen nominees for the overall SET Student of the Year Award.

Rory will travel to London on September 3rd where he will have a 30 minute interview and give a short presentation at the headquarters of the Institution of Chemical Engineers followed by attending the SET Awards dinner at The Hilton, Park Lane.

We wish Rory the very best of luck for his interview & presentation.

Rory is set to be one of the University's first MEng Chemical Engineering graduates in 2011 after embarking on the newly inaugurated degree programme in the academic year 2006/07
