Lori Manders, Director of Development and External Affairs, at the University of Aberdeen has been appointed to the Council for Advancement and Support of Education’s (CASE) Europe Board of Trustees.
CASE is a professional association serving educational institutions and the advancement of professionals working in alumni relations, communications, development, marketing and allied areas.
Mrs Manders brings over 11 years experience in the higher education sector to her role on the Board, which she will take up in July.
Her responsibilities will include advising on financial, strategic and operational matters and raising the profile of CASE.
Mrs Manders joined the University in 1999 as Director of Student Recruitment & Admissions and in 2001 became the University's first ever Director of Marketing.
She was appointed Director of Development and External Affairs in 2003. Her remit covers media relations, political relations, marketing, event management, development, alumni relations, student recruitment and admissions.
Mrs Manders has played a prominent role in the largest fundraising campaign in the University's history, to raise £150 million.
Launched in 1999, the Sixth Century Campaign has already helped create the Suttie Centre for Teaching and Learning in Healthcare – a state-of-the-art building for teaching medical students and clinical skills to healthcare professionals – funded new scholarship schemes, and supported the conservation of the institution’s historic collections.
The new Library and Special Collections Centre is the campaign’s flagship project. The fundraising total recently passed the £16 million mark through gifts from almost 3,000 donors pledged towards the construction project and the costs of staffing, equipment and community learning activities in the new building.
Mrs Manders said: “I am honoured to have been appointed to the CASE Europe Board of Trustees.
“CASE plays a key role in the education sector, helping its members in a wide range of areas including marketing, alumni and donor relations, and fundraising.
“I look forward to playing a part in helping direct the future of this important organisation.”
Kate Hunter, Executive Director of CASE Europe said: “I am excited to welcome Lori onto the CASE Europe board. She brings extensive professional experience combined with her passion as an existing CASE volunteer - I have no doubt that she will help CASE grow further.”
