Dr Johannes Kiefer to receive the prestigious Hinshelwood prize for Combustion

Dr Johannes Kiefer of the School of Engineering has been announced as the 2013 recipient of the prestigious Hinshelwood Prize for Combustion.

The Hinshelwood Prize for Combustion is awarded in recognition of meritorious work in any branch of combustion by a younger member of the British Section of the Combustion Institute. The aim of this annual award is to encourage young people, not as yet well-established researchers. In addition, the prize commemorates Sir Cyril Hinshelwood, who shared the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1956 (with N.N. Semenov) for his work on the combustion of hydrogen.

The Hinshelwood Prize is the only award of the section for the overall contribution to the field of combustion.

The award ceremony will take place in Loughborough on 24th September.
