New research from the ESRC-funded solar planning project based in the University of Aberdeen shows that public backing and institutional support significantly increase the chances of solar projects getting planning approval in England.
Dr. Mohsin Hussain, alongside fellow researchers, found that while public opinion does influence outcomes, projects endorsed by local councils and planning officials have the strongest approval rates. Clearer communication with communities could further improve engagement and support for solar deployment.
