Dr Santosh Gaihre recently had a productive visit to Nepal, where his child health and nutrition related research work is ongoing.
During the visit, Dr Gaihre met with several key stakeholders, including the Minister of Health and Population, the Chief Public Health Administrator, the Chief Scientific Officer of the Nepal Health Research Council, academic researchers and elected members. The discussions focused on his ongoing research in Nepal and its potential to improve child health outcomes.
As part of this visit, Dr Gaihre supported his PhD student’s project, "Designing an Evidence-Based Community-Focused Intervention Framework to Reduce the Risk of Child Growth Failure and Anaemia in Nepal.” He laid the groundwork for the primary data collection planned for next year. Additionally, Dr Gaihre explored potential collaboration opportunities with local academic researchers and the UNICEF Regional Office for South Asia (ROSA) to expand his future research projects in Nepal.
Apart from his research engagements, Santosh actively participated in international student recruitment fairs and UoA Agents visits in Kathmandu and Pokhara. On November 14th, he represented the University of Aberdeen at The British School (TBS) Kathmandu’s International University Fair. During the event, he had engaging conversations with Year 12 and 13 students, their parents, and other external visitors, discussing the advantages of studying at the University of Aberdeen and highlighting its 500-year legacy of excellence in teaching and research.
