Medical degrees gained at the University of Aberdeen are to be recognised by the Singapore Medical Council (SMC).
The University is among 5 UK institutions whose students will be able to practice medicine in Singapore from January 1 next year (2025).
The move will help Singapore be better able to meet the growing demand for doctors as the population ages, said the Health Ministry and Singapore Medical Council (SMC) in a joint statement on Nov 11.
Professor David Blackbourn, Head of the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition at the University said: "This is fantastic news for the School of Medicine and for our graduates.
"We are ranked 1st in the UK for Medicine in the Guardian University Guide 2025 rankings for the second consecutive year and are immensely proud of our University's international reputation.
"We already rank among the best for our global outlook and we will continue to expand our networks and partnerships, and seek new opportunities for international and intercultural exchange."
