Alex Johnstone, Professor in Human Nutrition, Theme Lead for Nutrition, Obesity and Disease at the Rowett Institute, is to join The British Nutrition Foundation Advisory Committee.
The role of the Advisory Committee, which is chaired by Janet Cade, Professor of Nutritional Epidemiology and Public Health at Leeds University, is to advise the Foundation’s Board of Trustees on external issues and its strategic plan as well as providing external insights and critical appraisal.
Professor Johnstone brings with her a wealth of knowledge and over 20 years research experience on the science of appetite, diet-related health and disease.
She is currently leading two major research projects ‘FIO Food’ and ‘DIO Food’ looking at food insecurity and obesity, and on diet and health inequalities respectively.
Professor Johnstone said: “As a researcher in human nutrition, my work involves a rigorous exploration of the science behind diet and health. But it’s also vital that this science is translated into accessible information for different audiences so that it can have real-life benefits. This is where the British Nutrition Foundation can make a real difference and I look forward to working with the other Advisory Committee members to support them.”
