Lecturer in Music, Dr Jo Hicks, was invited to speak at a conference in Milan on Spaces of Musical Production/Production of Musical Spaces.
Held in the Triennale Milano on the centenary of the museum's founding, this conference brought together a selected group of scholars and artists to examine the relationship between music and space from a variety of perspectives—historical, theoretical, ethnographic, and poetic. Entitled 'On the Spaces in Between; or, What Musical Networks Produce', Jo's talk addressed the mobility of musical practices and the (dis)connectedness of various sites of theatrical production in the nineteenth century.
