Prof John Paterson presents on regulation of hydrogen and offshore energy infrastructure

Over the past few weeks, Professor John Paterson showcased his expertise on the regulation of hydrogen and offshore energy infrastructure in Australia, Singapore, and the Netherlands.

John Paterson delivered a public lecture with Professor John Chandler at the University of Western Australia, Perth, on 2 August 2023. The lecture discussed legal developments in both Europe and Australia relating to the emerging hydrogen economy, with a particular focus on the classification and certification of hydrogen production.

John Paterson delivered a seminar in the CML Seminar Series at the Executive Centre, Singapore, entitled “Legal and Regulatory Aspects of the Hydrogen Economy” on 10 August 2023, and a research seminar at the Centre for Maritime Law, National University of Singapore, on regulatory developments in the decarbonisation of shipping on 23 August. John was a visiting professor at NUS during August teaching International and Comparative Oil and Gas Law.

John Paterson presented at the 33rd European Energy Law Seminar in The Hague, Netherlands, on 13 November 2023. The presentation was entitled Protecting Offshore Energy Infrastructure: (Legal Foundations of) Regulatory Approaches. The focus of the presentation was the question of the applicability of the Resilience of Critical Entities Directive to offshore energy infrastructure.
