Aberdeen Scholars Awarded Grants for Workshops on Security in the Arctic

Dr Dimitrios Anagnostakis and Dr Manu Lekunze have been awarded a grant from the Scottish Government's 'Arctic Connections Fund' to launch two workshops on Security in the Arctic.

In the first workshop, hosted by Nord University (Bodø, Norway), 4th year undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD students from the University of Aberdeen and Nord University will present and discuss research and policy ideas on the future security challenges in the Arctic region. The second workshop will take place in February (online/remotely) and it will bring together researchers and academics from both institutions with the aim of strengthening research ties and identifying further avenues for research collaboration for the future. The two workshops will foster a network of students and current and aspiring researchers who can contribute in the future to addressing the energy, food, and maritime security challenges in the Arctic region. The discussions and policy suggestions from the two workshops will be summarised and published in a policy report.
