The University of Aberdeen has appointed a new Chief Executive of AURIS Ltd.
Dr Alastair Alexander (49) takes up his new post officially on 23 February. Hance Fullerton remains as Chairman of AURIS Ltd.
Dr Alexander joins the University from The Scottish Textile Association in Glasgow where he was Chief Executive for three years. Prior to that he spent four years as Marketing Director for the National Farmers’ Union of Scotland.
A former pupil of Robert Gordon’s College, he gained a BSc degree in Agriculture from Aberdeen University with First Class Honours in Animal Science in 1972. The following year he graduated with an MSc in Animal Production and Nutrition and later added a PhD to his qualifications from the University.
Returning to the University to Dr Alexander says:
“I’m looking forward to taking up the post. I hope to play a lead role in taking the company forward and reinforcing the importance of commercialising intellectual property and assist with the drive to win more competitive contracts”
Married with three children, Dr Alexander’s interests outside of work include: trout fishing; classic cars and rugby.
Aberdeen University Research & Industrial Services (AURIS) Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Aberdeen. The company, formed in 1981, offers commercial consultancy, research and services to industry, local and national government departments and international agencies.
