The Professor of Planning & Environmental Law at the University of Aberdeen has been appointed to the Board of Scottish Natural Heritage.
The Secretary of State for Scotland has approved the appointment of Professor Jeremy Rowan-Robinson to the Board of SNH for a three year period starting on 1 April 1998.
Professor Rowan-Robinson - formerly Head of the Department of Land Economy and now with the Faculty of Law - has specific expertise in the legal arrangements governing the use, development and management of the countryside. He is a consultant with Paul and Williamson Solicitors on planning and environmental law matters and is a former legal adviser to the Lake District National Park Authority. He has published widely on the subject of planning and countryside matters.
Professor Rowan-Robinson says:
“The current discussions about access to the countryside, the decision to introduce national parks and the wider debate about land reform make this a particularly interesting time to be involved and I look forward to making a contribution.”
Born in Edinburgh, Professor Rowan-Robinson is a keen hill-walker and has climbed extensively in Britain and abroad.
