The University of Aberdeen is to host the launch of a new book entitled: “Decommissioning Offshore Structures” at the King’s Conference Centre in Old Aberdeen on 11 February. Co-ordinator of the University’s Oil and Gas Institute, Peter Meenan says:
“There is an increasing awareness of the complexity of the task over the next two decades for all those faced with the responsibility of decommissioning the infrastructure of the industry in a manner which meets the demands and aspirations of legal, political, economic environmental and engineering interest groups. The University of Aberdeen is well placed to pull together the multi-disciplinary strands of Law, Economics, Engineering, Geosciences and Environmental Management to develop a national strategy and core of expertise for finding the Best Practicable Environmental Option in each decommissioning case. This new book is the first attempt to bring together a coherent body of specialist knowledge in this area.”
