The public is guaranteed a very entertaining evening when two writers-in-residence read from their latest works on Tuesday, March 7th. Sheena Blackhall, Writer-In-Residence at the Elphinstone Institute at the University of Aberdeen and Magi Gibson, Writer-In-Residence for Aberdeenshire will appear at 7:00 pm in the City of Aberdeen Room in the King’s College Conference Centre in Old Aberdeen.
Magi Gibson said: “I will be reading from my next collection, entitled Wild Women of a Certain Age, which will come out at the start of May. It is a collection of political satire and women’s issues – but with a sense of humour.”
Cencrastus Literary Magazine recently had this to say of Magi Gibson: “Blessed be Maggie Gibson that for the country hath meet of such a voice – made in Scotland from girders!” Magi Gibson’s poetry collections include Kicking Back, Strange Fish and Premier Results.
Sheena Blackhall said: “I will read extracts from my new book The Singing Bird, due out in the spring, containing poetry in Doric and English, some of which is set in King’s College. I will also be performing some traditional folk songs of the Northeast.” Sheena Blackhall’s recent works include Stagwyse, The Bonsai Grower, and The Heilanman’s Sporran.
