IThe weekend of 1-2 April will be a major date in this year’s calendar, not just for the University of Aberdeen, but for the whole city. It marks the Quincentenary of the foundation of the University of Aberdeen’s King’s College Chapel and this important and historic event will be marked by a range of activities during the two-day celebration.
A photocall and interview opportunity has been arranged to preview the weekend on Tuesday 14 March at 11.00am at the King’s College Chapel. Bishop Elphinstone will be on hand, together with a group of student jugglers who will be part of the entertainment at The Fool’s Feast, one of the highlights of the weekend.
The celebrations will start with the launch of the definitive book on the Chapel, “Kings’ College Chapel: 500 years”, edited by and contributed to by Dr Jane Geddes of the History of Art Department. The book reveals many fascinating details about the Chapel and gives it its true historical place in Scottish and European religious, architectural and cultural history. Dr Geddes will join Bishop Elphinstone at the photocall and will be available for interview.
Further details on the Chapel Quincentenary weekend will follow.
