The sixth annual Joblink recruitment fair will be held at Aberdeen University Student Union at the Gallowgate on Wednesday, April 25.
Staff at Joblink, the University’s employment service for students, are anticipating a dramatic increase in the demand for their services, as many students will be looking to secure employment for the summer vacation.
First held in December 1998, the recruitment fairs have become well established in Aberdeen and are now organised bi-annually to assist those students seeking part-time and/or vacation employment.
Joblink Manager Tracey Innes said that the event will save students a vast amount of time and money in their search for employment, cutting telephone calls, postage, travel costs and time spent searching for vacancies.
Other benefits students receive from the Joblink service include guidance on balancing work with study, writing CVs and interview skills.
“In turn, employers will save valuable time and costs spent in their recruitment activities. Employers will also benefit from the calibre of applicants they will be meeting; as indicated by numerous employers who have attended previous fairs,” said Tracey.
“Students provide a valuable pool of flexible labour that can bring enthusiasm and new ideas to their organisation. In addition, they are intelligent, quick to learn and therefore provide good value for money.”
There are a variety of employers and organisations who will be represented at the event, including confirmed attendees such as Fircroft Recruitment, Group 4 Security, Ardoe House Hotel, BUNAC, the Jobcentre and Marcliffe of Pitfodels Hotel.
“The event is expected to be a great success and it is hoped that a considerable number of placements will be made during the afternoon,” said Tracey.
