University of Aberdeen expert to talk on Art or Science in Criminal Investigation

Dr James Grieve, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Pathology and a Police Forensic Pathologist, from the University of Aberdeen, will present an open Forensic Science Lecture today (Tuesday, March 12), entitled Art or Science in Criminal Investigation.

Organised by the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI) Scotland Section, the lecture is the second in the SCI Scotland forensics series, taking place around Scotland during National Science Week.

The Department of Pathology at the University, where Dr Grieve is based, is among the busiest in the United Kingdom with both academic and NHS members of staff providing a full range of educational, research, clinical and training activities. It forms part of one of the largest combined academic-clinical campuses in Europe.

SCI Scotland, the lecture organisers, has had a keen involvement in science festivals since the relaunch in 2000, holding events at the Edinburgh International Science Festival and TechFest. National Science Week 2002 will see SCI Scotland events taking place in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Falkirk, Glasgow and Inverness.

Dr Grieve's lecture will be held in Room MA7, The School of Pharmacy, The Robert Gordon University, Schoolhill, Aberdeen at 7.00pm, tonight (March 12). The lecture is suitable for anyone over the age of 16.
