Talking History - New North East Oral History Network
A new network to assist people involved in oral history throughout the North East of Scotland and Shetland is being established in Aberdeen. The aim of the new North East Oral History Network, is to provide information, discussion forums, training and to hold workshops and seminars.
Network co-ordinator, Hugo Manson, a Research Fellow at the School of History and History of Art at the University of Aberdeen, is an oral historian with over 20 years of experience. He is the North East Scotland representative of the Edinburgh-based Scottish Oral History Group and of the London-based British Oral History Society.
Commenting on the new network, Hugo Manson, said: “The North East Oral History Network is available for anyone in this part of the country, or in Shetland, interested in recording oral history, setting up oral history projects, or for people who would like training in interviewing or archiving of recorded material. I would be very happy to talk to groups of people interested in oral history.”
A substantial amount of recording work is being carried out in the North East and the Network hopes to be able to share experiences of those involved through personal contact and through the internet. The new network would welcome hearing from anyone interested in participating.
