Clare de Rocco, Business Development Co-ordinator at the University of Aberdeen Language Centre, who attended an evening class at Aberdeen College last year, will be presented with the London Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) Marketing Gold Medal for coming first in the world for her Third Level exams at a special award presentation at Aberdeen College to be held today (Thursday 9 May).
Clare, who is delighted at receiving this prestigious award, said: "A big part of my job as Business Development Co-ordinator at the Language Centre is the marketing of language services to local business and industry. I decided to take the course as a way of gaining some formal training and a qualification in marketing to back up the experience I had gained from my present and previous positions"
She added: "It can be hard to motivate yourself to study after a hard day's work, but I found the course to be really worthwhile, thanks to the lecturer. He had an excellent business background and was able to combine marketing theory with fascinating real-life examples, which made the course really interesting."
David Beattie, Sector Manager, Business Studies, Aberdeen College who will be presenting the award said: "Gold and Silver medallions are awarded to the top two candidates world-wide at the discretion of the LCCI Examination Board. To receive a Gold World medallion, Clare must have achieved more than 80% of the maximum marks. We are extremely proud of her performance and wish her well for her future."
