Companies and organisations from throughout the UK will today (Wednesday, 6 November) be represented at the University of Aberdeen’s annual Careers Information Fair.
Representatives from 50 of the country’s leading financial, technical, industrial, teaching and professional organisations will be on hand to offer information and advice to students of all years. The event, organised by the University’s Careers and Appointments Service, will take place in Elphinstone Hall.
Locker Madden, Head of Careers & Appointments Service said: "I am absolutely delighted at the number and spread of standholders representing a very wide range of employment options, professional institutes, choices for postgraduate study and exciting ideas for gap year activities. I hope that as many as possible of our students will take advantage of the largest graduate careers fair north of the central belt."
The financial sector will be represented by Standard Life Assurance, The Royal Bank of Scotland,
and PricewaterhouseCoopers, while technical advice will be offered by companies including Pragma, Logica, Wood Group, Babtie and Atkins.
David Barr, Head of Recruitment at Standard Life said: "We are pleased to be returning to Aberdeen University again this year in the hope of recruiting some of its top graduates into a variety of positions across the organisation. We have 6 exciting graduate training programmes; Management, Human Resources, Legal, Information Systems, Accounting and Actuarial, all of which offer top quality training and development and career opportunities."
The public sector will also be represented by the Scottish Executive, who will give advice on opportunities in the Civil Service, the Government Statistical Service and Aberdeen City Council (Social Work).
Shell, Schlumberger, ExxonMobil and Baker Hughes will provide information on graduate recruitment within the oil industry and related services.
A range of employers from other sectors ranging from The Armed Services to Asda and Grampian Country Food Group will also be in attendance.
A new addition will be presentations from a number of charities who will offer volunteering and gap year opportunities. The postgraduate officers from the University of Aberdeen and The Robert Gordon University will be on hand to discuss postgraduate study opportunities.
