Full House for Oil Industry Training Event

The 10th annual Overview of the North Sea Oil and Gas Industry training conference taking place later this week (Thursday 7 and Friday 8 November) at the University of Aberdeen looks set to be one of the most successful in recent years.

The two day intensive business training conference provides a comprehensive overview of the disciplines and functions that make up the oil industry and is aimed at those either working in the industry or those who deal with clients in it. Delegates attending include professionals working in Human Resources, finance and law, public sector, marketing and PR as well as those new to the oil and gas sector. Nikki Musgrave of Prospect CPD, organisers of the event said; “The Overview is a must for anyone who requires them to know a bit more about the oil and gas sector whether they work in it directly or have clients in the industry. It is very much about enhancing effectiveness at work and gaining confidence when talking with colleagues or clients about the industry.”

John Wils, UKOOA Director for Operations and Technical Affairs is chairman for the event and will speak on both days. Other key speakers include Professor Alex Kemp, University of Aberdeen who will speak on UK competitiveness in a global context and further explore implications of the 2002 tax on oil profits; and Jim Campbell, Department of Trade and Industry who will talk about environmental considerations in the oil and gas industry. Mr Campbell said: “The conference provides a comprehensive overview of the oil sector and gives delegates a sound understanding of all the major facets of the industry, including a comprehensive review of environmental issues detailing their importance and how these are handled through the regulatory regime. The event also provides the opportunity to discuss different aspects with industry professionals, academic experts and other people in similar situations.”
