The eight week course in wildlife art will run on Wednesday evenings between 7.30pm and 9pm at the University's Conoco Natural History Centre from Wednesday January 29. As part of the course, attendees will be given access to the University's Zoology Museum and shown how to produce a piece of art using specimens both in the museum and the Natural History Centre. Wildlife artist Ian Rendall will lead the course.
Some drawing experience is preferred but not essential. Participants should provide their own materials such as watercolours, pencils, pastels, ink brushes, paper, boards and erasers. A camera would also be useful if participants wish to take photos of their subject matter to work on outwith the class. Mandy Tulloch, Development Co-ordinator at the Natural History Centre said: "This new art class will be terrific for anyone who has ever fancied trying their hand at, or rediscovering a talent for drawing and painting. Budding artists will be able to paint a variety of subjects including anything from insects to tigers."
