A number of experts from the University of Aberdeen are today participating at the annual renewable energy exhibition and conference All-Energy Opportunities continuing today (Thursday 22 May) at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
For the first time this year the All-Energy Opportunities Conference and Exhibition is focussing on wider forms of renewable energy rather than just wind and waves, at the event opened yesterday by Energy Minister Brian Wilson MP.
Experts in the fields of Biomass, Bioenergy, Geoscience, Deep Sea Technologies and Remediation will join Professor Paul Mitchell, Head of the School of Resources, Environment and Society over the two days of the Conference. Professor Mitchell will, amongst other things, be taking part in a workshop session today on a biofuels strategy for Scotland.
As active participants in the Aberdeen Renewables Energy Group (AREG), academics from the University of Aberdeen will help AREG update delegates on wider energy, research and policy developments.
Professor Dominic Houlihan, University Vice Principal for Research and Commercialisation welcomed the return of the annual renewable energy conference and exhibition to Aberdeen and said: "This Conference is an excellent opportunity for the University to showcase its growing expertise in the crucially important area of renewables. The University is committed in its support of the Energy industry. Participating in major events such as All-Energy Opportunities is very important to us in providing an opportunity for our academics to meet companies and key players and exchange ideas in this rapidly changing industry."
