With local school holidays approaching this week, the Conoco Natural History Centre at the University of Aberdeen announces its Summer Fun programme of environmental education classes for local primary schoolchildren.
Designed to introduce, involve and enthuse young people in the environment, the Summer Fun series of classes will offer participants the chance to learn more about our natural environment using specimens and exhibits of the University's Zoology Museum as well as the facilities of the Conoco Natural History Centre and the Cruickshank Botanic Garden.
The Summer Fun programme will follow the themes of minibeasts and microscopes over five weeks from July 15, 2003. Mandy Tulloch, Development Coordinator at the Natural History Centre explained; "We want to get all children involved in the environment and have devised activities at the Conoco Natural History Centre to let them have lots of hands-on fun. The two courses will give participants the chance of handling beasties, touring the Zoology Museum and using microscopes and cameras. It's going to be a great summer of fun!"
Further information is available from Mandy Tulloch, tel: 01224 493288 or email: m.tulloch@abdn.ac.uk.
Classes start from July 15, 2003 and are free of charge with booking essential.
