(Photo opportunity tomorrow: Thursday, August 14: details at end of release)
One of the hottest tickets of the Aberdeen International Youth Festival will be singing the praises of the University of Aberdeen outside Kings College this Thursday (August 14).
The University of Philippines Concert Chorus were left short of funds when part of their tour of the Highlands was cut short.
But, thanks to the generosity of the University and Stagecoach Bluebird, the 35 talented singers will be able to continue their world tour in London.
The University stepped in and offered last-minute accommodation at Hillhead Halls to bridge the gap and Stagecoach Bluebird will provide a free bus to take the group to London for the next leg of their eight-month tour.
As a thank-you, the choir will perform their unique repertoire of popular, traditional and gospel songs at King's College, Old Aberdeen this Thursday lunchtime.
Lori Manders, Director of External Affairs at the University, said: "We were delighted to step in and help the University of Philippines Concert Chorus. The University of Aberdeen has been a strong supporter of the Youth Festival since its inception. As old friends of the Festival, we are pleased to welcome the choir to the University this Thursday."
Festival Transport Director, Pete Wiltshire, said: "The group would have had a big problem without the generosity of the University of Aberdeen and Stagecoach Bluebird. They have definitely saved the day by providing accommodation and transport to London for the Choir."
The concert will begin at 12.30pm outside Kings College. Admission is free and all are welcome.
