The University of Aberdeen is celebrating after research programmes, based on topics as diverse as the ageing population, osteoporosis and the environment, have been awarded almost £200,000 in funding.
The five innovative projects are among those recognised by the Royal Society of Edinburgh's Research Awards scheme which supports exceptionally talented academics and potential entrepreneurs. The awards will be presented at a ceremony in the capital tomorrow night (Wednesday, August 27).
Professor Dominic Houlihan, Vice Principal for Research and Commercialisation, the University of Aberdeen, will join the University's award winners at the ceremony.
Professor Houlihan said: "This is wonderful news, and I am delighted that the University of Aberdeen has, once again, been recognised for its excellence in research. These awards enable some of the brightest researchers from home to develop their ideas here in Scotland and today's announcement demonstrates the wealth and breadth of talent that we have here at Aberdeen."
