The University of Aberdeen will be opening its doors to what it hopes will be the next generation of world-class researchers and scientists at an event being held for the Schools of Medicine and Medical Sciences, part of the College of Life Sciences and Medicine. The Postgraduate Open Day, which takes place on Thursday 6 November 2003, will attract some of the UK's finest young minds in the field of medicine and life sciences. If accepted to come and study at the University, these students will carry on the tradition of excellence in research that has seen Aberdeen at the forefront of world class bio-medical research.
Research undertaken at the University of Aberdeen has gone on to change the face of medicine, including the discovery of endorphins, the isolation of insulin and the development of MRI scanning.
Dr Helen Galley, Senior Lecturer and Director of Postgraduate Studies for the Schools of Medicine and Medical Sciences at the University, said: "This innovative event aims to attract high calibre scientists and researchers to the University.
"We look forward to welcoming graduates and medical professionals next month. The programme for the event is designed to give visitors a taste of what the University of Aberdeen has to offer."
The Postgraduate Open Day will be held in the Institute of Medical Sciences between 2.00 and 5.00pm. For further details visit: www.abdn.ac.uk/medicine/postgraduate/openday/
