Almost one hundred pupils from North-East secondary schools are getting a helping hand with their studying this Easter from the University of Aberdeen.
For the third year, the University is hosting a two-day Easter Revision School on April 6-7, 2004 for local Standard Grade pupils.
The event has been organised by the University's aim 4 uni - a programme which works to encourage wider access to higher education.
Pupils from Northfield, Torry, Kincorth, St Machar and Peterhead Academies, will take part in activities designed to support their Standard Grade revision in Mathematics and English.
Activities will include revision workshop sessions, study skills and confidence building activities, such as "Personality Bingo", a Higher Education quiz and word search.
While the main aim of the event is to improve pupils' Standard Grade achievements in Maths and English, they will also gain the opportunity to experience a taste of the university environment and student life.
Denise Shearer, aim 4 uni Co-ordinator and event organiser, said: "The Easter Revision School is one of a range of events that the University of Aberdeen's aim 4 uni scheme supports for young people in schools and we are delighted to have pupils from both Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire attending.
"This is the third year that the event has been run at the University of Aberdeen. It is proving to be an increasingly popular choice of revision activity for many young people and we are really pleased at the numbers attending this year.
"We have had strong support from the schools, teachers and university staff and students involved and look forward to being able to offer an extended event next year."
Denise added: "Supporting young people in achieving better grades and providing the opportunity to come into a university is one way of encouraging them to view university study as an option for their future. We want to ensure that young people have choices and see themselves as having choices to study at higher levels. Events like the Easter Revision School reinforce this widening access message."
During the programme pupils will have the chance to win CD vouchers and all participants will receive a certificate that will be presented to them in their schools at the start of the new term.
