Research students to showcase work

The research work of engineering and technology students from across the North of Scotland will be highlighted at a symposium at the University of Aberdeen tomorrow (Thursday August 20).

Organised by the Northern Research Partnership (NRP) the one day event brings together around 60 PhD students from Aberdeen, Dundee and Robert Gordon Universities who are members of the NRP Graduate School.

Engineering, energy and computing will be the main topics of discussion at the symposium which aims to give students experience of sharing their research work with others.

Students will be asked to give short 15 minute presentations as part of the event which will be held in the James McKay Hall on the University's King's College Campus.

Professor Albert Rodger, Vice Principal & Head of the College of Physical Sciences at the University of Aberdeen will open the day by outlining the work of the NRP, which was established between the universities in 2007 to build research excellence in strategically important areas of engineering and related disciplines.

Professor Xi-Shan Hao President of Tianjin Medical University and Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute in China will be guest speaker at the symposium.
