A website aimed at encouraging best practice in teaching medicine and dentistry, is launched today (Monday 18 August) by the University of Aberdeen.
Thought to be only the second website of its kind in the UK the portal –http://www.abdn.ac.uk/medical-education/research/ – provides in-depth information on the current research into various areas of medical education which is ongoing at the institute.
Designed for academics, staff and students from within the medical and dental education sector, and the wider community, the website promotes and highlights the most effective methods and techniques for use within the field of medical education.
Dr Jennifer Cleland, Lead for Medical Education Research, University of Aberdeen who co-ordinated the website said: "The website aims to provide a unique information hub, showcasing the high calibre of work within the field of medical education research, which is taking place at the University of Aberdeen.
"Carefully evaluating how the subject areas of medicine and dentistry are taught and assessed is essential towards ensuring best practice. The website is an extremely useful tool providing an insight into how the University is analysing and using evidence in order to ensure our teaching methods are of the highest possible standards.
"From consultants and professors through to current students or applicants and members of the public in general, the website has been created to provide information for anyone with an invested interest in medical education."
