Some of the deepest questions about ourselves and the world that we live in will be discussed this weekend at a major academic conference.
Over 180 scholars from all over the UK, Europe and the US and as far afield as Australia, Taiwan, Barbados, Brazil and Hong Kong will gather at the University of Aberdeen for a three-day philosophy conference.
The Joint Session of the Aristotelian Society and the Mind Association - the annual convention of British philosophers - will hold this year's meeting at King's College from July 11-13 - the first time the conference has been held in the Granite City for nearly forty years.
Around 100 papers will be given over the course of the event.
"The last time the conference was held in Aberdeen was 1970, so it's a real coup to see the Joint Session return to King's College," said Dr Peter Baumann, Senior Philosophy Lecturer and conference co-organiser.
Philosophy has been taught at Aberdeen since 1495.
"It is entirely fitting that the University should again host such a valuable event," added Dr Baumann. "Its aim is to provide a forum for UK philosophers, as well as scholars from all over the world, to come together in order to continue and intensify philosophical dialogue."
