The visual arts and their relationship with religion, politics and cultural identity will be explored at a free two-day conference at King’s College.
Postgraduate students from across the country will present their current research at the Art and Identity conference on June 26 and 27.
Plenary speakers at the conference include Dr Brendan Cassidy from the School of Art History, University of St. Andrews and Dr Tom Nichols, Senior History of Art lecturer at the University of Aberdeen.
The conference, which is sponsored by the College of Arts and Social Sciences and the School of Divinity, History and Philosophy, includes a wide range of papers relating to the visual arts and their relationship with religion, politics and cultural identity in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
The event has been organised by Sandra Cardarelli, a PhD candidate in History of Art at the University of Aberdeen, Emily Jane Anderson (PhD candidate, University of Glasgow) and Joanne Anderson (PhD candidate, University of Warwick), who will also present papers at the conference.
The conference is free and registration and coffee breaks will take place in the Divinity Library, while all sessions will be hosted in room KCG16, both in King's College. Anyone interested is welcome to attend all or part of the conference.
