A group of Chinese students from the University of Aberdeen have raised over £2500 in aid of orphans of the recent China earthquake.
The funds were generated following a donation event which was held at various locations throughout the University campus earlier this month.
University staff and students and local residents were amongst those who contributed towards the funds, which have been sent to the Chinese Embassy in London to help deliver support for orphans of the disaster.
University of Aberdeen student Jing Kang, who was responsible for co-ordinating the event says: "The fundraising event involved more that 40 Chinese and International students, and was arranged within one week in direct and heartfelt response to the disaster.
"Great support was received from the University of Aberdeen's International Student Advice and Support Office and Student Association and without their encouragement and enthusiasm this event would not have been possible. It was extremely moving to see those involved contribute so wholeheartedly to the event, which further highlighted the generous spirit of the University staff and students and the wider Aberdeen community."
