Aberdeen students can now apply for 30 brand new places on a Chinese summer school scheme running this July.
Seven University students recently returned from a trip to Shanghai, one of the world's most important centres for business and finance, as part of the hugely successful Study China Programmes.
They will meet again today at the Old Town House to discuss what they gained from the experience with University management and representatives from the Scottish Government's Higher Education team.
The three-week Easter programme included learning the Chinese language, attending lectures on Chinese culture, society, history and economy, and visiting local businesses.
Its aim is to increase knowledge and understanding of the Chinese language and culture and is fully funded by the Scottish Government – which has now agreed to fund a further 30 undergraduate student places at a Chinese summer school in July.
The theme for the summer programme is Regional Economy and Cultures and will take place in the Zhejiang and Shandong regions.
Potential applicants can find out more at www.abdn.ac.uk/chinasummerschool or attend a briefing session in the Old Senate Room today (June 5) at 3.15pm.
Professor Dominic Houlihan, Vice Principal (Research and Commercialisation) said: "The University was extremely pleased to have so many of its students accepted on the recent Easter Programme in China.
"It offered a packed schedule for the students with a variety of cultural and recreational activities and also gave them the opportunity to visit local companies to gain an insight into the business world.
"It's important that as many students as possible take this latest chance to apply for what has proved to be a hugely successfully programme."
