More than a thousand people descended on two University of Aberdeen museums at the weekend to see a dinosaur come to life and the ghost of a professor from the past.
Marischal Museum and the Zoology Museum were the only Scottish organisations that took part in the Europe wide Night at the Museum scheme which involved institutions throwing open their doors on Saturday night.
Taking inspiration from the Hollywood blockbuster of the same name, the scheme aims to promote museums across the continent.
A total of 1,164 people flocked to the Aberdeen museums which featured a life sized dinosaur, the ghost of an acclaimed University anatomy professor and an Eygptian mummy.
Torchlight trails, a chance to get up and close with creepy crawlies, glowstick lantern making, star gazing and behind the scenes tours were also on offer to visitors who also enjoyed a viewing of the popular movie.
Organisers were delighted at the turnout which far exceeded expectations.
