The University of Aberdeen is offering three American students the opportunity to receive support to study at the institute through the introduction of a new scholarship programme.
The Scotland USA Graduate Scholarship has been launched in partnership with Education UK Scotland to offer vital funding for US graduates wishing to continue their studies at the University.
Three 12 month scholarships valued at £2000, will be granted to the successful candidates to commence full time postgraduate Masters programmes in September 2008.
The awards are part of a nationwide scheme to further establish links between Scotland and America in line with the rising popularity of US students studying in Scotland.
The USA is currently the third largest market for Scottish universities. The number of American students studying in Scottish Higher Education Institutes rose from 2885 in 2005/06 to 3325 in 2006/7.
Enhancing the support which is provided for international students is a key objective for the University as Jenny Fernandes, Head of International Office for the University of Aberdeen explains: "The introduction of the Scotland USA Graduate Scholarship is an ideal example of the way in which the University aims to encourage and support international students in their studies.
"The awards will offer vital finances to the successful candidates, alleviating some of the cost of their studies and enabling them to enjoy their educational experience in Aberdeen. As postgraduate students, the scholars who are awarded these grants will have the unique opportunity to enhance their studies whilst experiencing the exciting culture, atmosphere and range of activities which the University and the city of Aberdeen have to offer."
Applications for the Scotland USA Graduate Scholarship are now being accepted for enrolment at the University of Aberdeen in September 2008. The closing date for applications is 1 July 2008.
