An Aberdeen student has been awarded a highly coveted prize at a prestigious American university conference.
University of Aberdeen student Kyle McGregor took home the Best Delegate award at the Pennsylvania United Nations Conference which was held at the Pennsylvania State University. Kyle, who is studying international relations, is currently an exchange student at the Washington & Jefferson College in Washington.
In the region of 70 students from 15 colleges and universities took part in the Pennsylvania United Nations Conference. The event, which sees participates take part in a simulated session of an intergovernmental organisation, aims to educate participants about civics, effective communication, globalisation and multilateral diplomacy. Students took on roles as foreign diplomats as part of the mock session, with winning student Kyle representing the European Union at the conference.
Kyle McGregor said of his award win: "It is a great honour to take home this prestigious award. Taking part in the event allowed me the opportunity to put theory into practice and use my studies within the context of the simulated sessions. The award win is just one highlight in what is proving to be an extremely rewarding experience as an exchange student with the Washington & Jefferson College."
