The University of Aberdeen and The Robert Gordon University will this Sunday (March 9) compete in the 13th Aberdeen Asset Management City of Aberdeen Universities Boat Race.

Sponsored by Aberdeen Asset Management, the Aberdeen race is the longest running Universities' Boat Race North of the border and over the last few years has firmly established itself as Scotland's perfect answer to the Boat Race.
The crews have been training hard in the run-up to race and both sides are confident of a victory.
Judith Herbert (21), the President of RGU Boat Club is looking forward to the race and would like a repeat of the performance which saw them win in 2006.
Judith said: "We are all really excited about this boat race and our training has been going extremely well.
"We know we have the odds against us after triumphing in only one of the last 12 races but confidence in our camp is high so Aberdeen University better look out."
Emma Grimshaw (22), the President of the University of Aberdeen Boat Club, said: "The mood in the Aberdeen University camp is one of self-belief and we know we are capable of seeing off our old rivals for another year.
"There isn't much rivalry between the two teams at the moment but as soon as we hit the water this will change!"
Andrew Laing, Chief Operating Officer with Aberdeen Asset Management has been involved in the planning and organisation of the race. He says: "Aberdeen Asset Management has been supporting the Boat Race for a number of years now and we have noticed it gaining in popularity every time. We are delighted to play a role in Scotland's answer to the Boat Race and we hope that this year proves as exciting as the last races."
