Earlier this week senior academics and managers attended a lunch hosted by the Centre for Learning & Teaching.
The Centre was created last year to provide advice and support towards all aspects of learning, teaching and assessment. It offers a range of services and materials designed to support staff in their teaching duties. These may vary from elements of direct, one-off engagements through to lengthier projects allowing engagement with more complex issues in learning and teaching.
Cathy Macaslan, Vice Principal (Learning & Teaching) welcomed 40 guests before launching the Centre's new web site.
Members of staff from the Centre presented some of the planned initiatives for this academic year. These include supporting student retention and progression through the development of generic learning resources delivered via WebCT for both undergraduate and taught postgraduates. Additionally, after consultation with Heads of School and teaching staff, the Postgraduate Certificate in HE Learning & Teaching has been revised to incorporate discipline level support, and restructured to be more flexible.
