Immigration, worker rights and labour mobility will be some of the key topics debated at a major sociology conference in Aberdeen this week.
The Work, Employment and Society conference runs at the University of Aberdeen from today (Wednesday, September 12) to Friday, September 14.
The conference takes place every three years and is allied to the WES Journal, one of the most respected international outlets for research into work and employment.
This is the first time the gathering has been held in Scotland.
The keynote speakers are Madeleine Bunting, Guardian columnist and author; Arne Kalleberg, President-elect of the American Sociological Association; and Allyson Pollock, Head of the Centre for International Public Health Policy at the University of Edinburgh.
Over 250 delegates from all over the world, including the USA, Australia, Europe, Japan and China will attend.
Around 85 papers will be presented on issues such as immigration, labour mobility and flexibility, worker rights, the impact of insecure employment, and work in multinational corporations over the course of the three-day event.
