The University of Aberdeen is celebrating after winning the 12th Aberdeen Asset Management Universities Boat Race in record time.

Aberdeen was determined to beat Robert Gordon University after RGU took the trophy last year for the first time.
Every year the two universities race from the Bridge of Dee to Aberdeen Boat Club in Torry. It's the longest running universities' boat race north of the border and has firmly established itself as Scotland's answer to the celebrated Cambridge and Oxford Universities race.
Aberdeen took to the water in their new boat Alumin VIII - a Stampli 8+ model - which was donated to the University Boat Club by the University of Aberdeen Alumni Annual Fund, which raises money from generous alumni and friends of the University. It benefits a wide variety of causes, including helping sports clubs to purchase essential equipment they may not be able to afford.
RGU finished the race with a time of 8:35.6.
