PHOTO OPPORTUNITY: Today - Monday, April 4 – at 5.00pm, Foyer Restaurant & Gallery – details to follow
An exciting fusion of the written word and visual art will be showcased this month as part of a joint venture between the Foyer Restaurant & Gallery and Word – University of Aberdeen Writers Festival.
The mystical world of dreams and memory is revealed in the new exhibition opening at the Foyer where work by Edinburgh artist Rachael MacArthur will be on display.
Rachael, who graduated last year from Edinburgh University with an honours degree in Fine Art, said her work allows her to relive significant parts of her life. “My work investigates my personal dreams and memories, which I keep in my sketchbooks, in a highly personal way so the process is therapeutic,” she said.
During her studies and since graduating Rachael has exhibited in both Edinburgh and London. Her show opens in Aberdeen to the public on Tuesday, April 5, and runs until Saturday, May 21, 2005.
Elly Rothnie, Festival Producer of Word 05, said: “We are delighted to include Rachael's work in what is a packed programme for the Word Festival's 5th birthday year.
“The exhibition crosses beautifully over the boundaries between art and the written word and exciting collaborations such as this make Word one of the most exciting festivals in the UK."
