Erin Benton, part of the 2021-22 MLitt Scandinavian Studies cohort, has been awarded the prestigious Margaret Orme prize for postgraduate Old Norse studies by the Viking Society for Northern Research. Founded in 1892, the Viking Society for Northern Research is the world’s leading scholarly organization dedicated to the study of medieval Scandinavia and the wider Viking world (https://vsnr.org/). Erin was nominated by her tutors for her innovative coursework, especially in HI502J Old Norse 1. The prize includes 5 years' membership of the Viking Society, £75 monetary prize, and £100 of Viking Society publications.
