From public dialogue to policy: contributing to future of nature and farming perspectives

Geography and Environment staff contributed to the Public Dialogue workshop series that the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) organised in seven locations across the UK. Dr. Katrin Prager provided food for thought on current challenges and the future of farming in Aberdeenshire, and Dr. Flurina Wartmann provided insights into biodiversity challenges and local biodiversity-positive initatives. The results of this effort exploring how we are facing the triple challenge of balancing land use for food production, nature and climate, are published now at Land of Plenty: Public Perspectives. These reports have been influencing the work at WWF and their commentary on the National Food Strategy for England (BBC News), evidencing a route to impact policy decisions.
