Successful Residency from pianist Duncan Honeybourne

Successful Residency from pianist Duncan Honeybourne

Celebrated pianist Duncan Honeybourne came to Aberdeen recently to give a concert and a workshop of new pieces by departmental student composers.

Duncan gave a recital in the atmospheric King's College Chapel of pieces by Schumann, Cecilia McDowall and the department's Visiting Fellow in Composition at the University of Aberdeen Department of Music, Prof John Casken. The concert also featured the world premiere of senior lecturer Dr Phillip Cooke's 'Folksongs', the first in a series of collaborations with Honeybourne which will result in a recording of brand new repertoire early next year. The following day the pianist gave a fabulous workshop of pieces by PhD, MMus and BMus composers led by Dr John De Simone.
