Frances Mills wins Cruickshank Trust Fund prize for best student in Agriculture

Master in Land Economy student Frances Mills wins the prize for best performing student - funded by the Cruickshank Trust Fund.

The prize for best performing student in the course “Agricultural Principles and Practice” of the Masters Programme in Land Economy (or MLE) was awarded to Frances Mills, who achieved an A3 grade in the course overall. The prize was arranged by MLE programme director Dr. Katrin Prager and sponsored by the Cruickshank Trust Fund managed by SRUC. The Trust Fund is a result of an endowment by the late Ethel Cruickshank to promote education in Scotland in the applied use of agricultural science. Ethel Cruickshank was born in Cruden Bay, Aberdeenshire, gained a BSc and PhD degree at Aberdeen University in 1922 and 1925 respectively, and became a research scholar at the Rowett Institute. Much of her work was dedicated to animal nutrition in agriculture. Although there is no longer a standalone agricultural degree at Aberdeen University, agricultural knowledge is an important component of the Master of Land Economy (MLE). This renowned MSc programme has history of several decades at the University of Aberdeen and continues to educate students who go into careers including rural surveying, land management and more.
