Significant upgrade to the University-managed Print and Copy Service - Mon 13-Fri 17 Sept.
There will be a significant upgrade to the University-managed Print and Copy Service from Monday 13 to Friday 17 September.
Print and copy services may be at risk all week and at times will be completely unavailable.
Timeline
Here is the planned timeline. The changes are complicated so the timeline may be subject to change:
Time | Date | Action |
Noon | Monday 13 September | Student Print web payment service will be taken offline.
|
From 3pm | Monday 13 September | The old print management system will be shutdown. Printing and copying will be unavailable.
|
Evening | Monday 13 September | MFDs and printers will be updated to work with the new print management solution.
|
All day | Tuesday 14 September | All Print and Copy services will be offline while the new print management system is configured. The service will resume in a phased manner, taking account of agreed business priorities.
|
Morning | Wednesday 15 September | IT Service News to be issued with full details of service status.

What should you do
If you are on campus can you please ensure that your local printer or MFD is powered on.
Print any required materials before 3pm on Monday 13 September.
The print server and queue names connected to your computer will be changing. We will provide a detailed update on this part of the change next week.
Why is this happening now?
For functionality, technical and contractual reasons we are migrating to a more widely supported Print Management solution called Papercut.
The improved functionality supports sustainability, monitoring and improved costs of the service offered.
We know that the timing of this change is not ideal, and we do apologise, but we need to implement the change now before the majority of our students return.
Next Update
We will issue a detailed update including a state of progress on Wednesday 15 September.
