Treescapes project begins

Treescapes project begins

Dr Ed Schofield is to be a co-investigator on a UKRI-funded research project entitled, Voices of the future: collaborating with children and young people to reimagine treescapes. The study will explore how young people perceive and connect with trees, woodland and forests (‘treescapes’) and how they can participate in changing the present and future of these habitats. The grant – led by Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) – will run for three years and involve collaboration between academics at six UK universities across multiple disciplines. Ed will be working directly with Dr Jo Vergunst (Anthropology) and Dr Liz Curtis (Education) on the Aberdeen work package, with an emphasis on further developing long-standing community research into woodland history around Bennachie, NE Scotland. Further details about the project are available in the University of Aberdeen press release and the UKRI announcement, where outlines of the other five projects funded under the same grant call can also be found.
